Educational comics
Have you ever sat in a long school day, and said "This is boring". Have you ever wished that school could teach us something else. Well I have thought so too. Long hours of memorizing is boring and (mostly)useless. My idea is that we learn through comics and cartoon books.
For generations, reading comics has been a pastime. Hours spent under the covers in a comfy chair, marvelling at the pictures. But have you ever thought comics could be well-educational? Comics and education seem far apart, but in reality, comics are a medium for education. Larry Gonnick has written many educational comics from 1978 to 2015, on topics spanning from history( of the universe) to science( there are Larry Gonnick topics on maths and tech too). Recently Grady Klien has taken up comic making and has made comics on topics from Microeconomics to Calculus..
Recently, I finished the Cartoon Introduction to Economics series. I , learned many valuable microeconomics and macroeconomics concepts. These concepts are complicated, but through the colourful cartoons and good language, I understood economics. It was a fun and mesmerizing experience. I recommend educational comics.
In the end, these comics can speak years of knowledge in just over 200 pages. They are fun and educational at the same time. In my opinion, schools should teach us from these comics.
Very interesting vivaan
ReplyDeleteI can personally vouch for this. From superman Flash Green Lantern and batman i learnt about space mechanics and science from western comics i leart how the west was won n the history of the American continent from Archie I learnt teenage life and angst and how people were actually similiar. I learnt phrases and expressions that the schools never thought and I learned at a young age that heartbreaks are not mine alone. Thank you God of comics.
